LSU running back commit Corey Kiner came one game short of winning the state championship for Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, this fall.

Despite falling just short of a state title, Kiner’s individual honors continue to roll in.

On Wednesday, Kiner received his biggest honor for a record-breaking 2020 season when he was named Mr. Football for the state of Ohio.

Kiner, who committed to LSU in May, is a four-star running back who is expected to sign with the Tigers next week for the 2021 class.

Interestingly enough, former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was named Mr. Football in Ohio six years ago to the day Kiner received the award.

In Kiner’s four years at Roger Bacon, he rushed for over 7,000 yards, which ranks No. 10 in the history of the state of Ohio. Kiner’s 125 total touchdowns and 116 rushing touchdowns both rank No. 3 all-time in Ohio.

The Tigers have struggled to consistently run the football in 2020, so there is an opportunity for Kiner to play as a freshman next fall.
