Before spring practice was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LSU had starting quarterback Myles Brennan and a pair of true freshmen, Max Johnson and TJ Finley, who had just enrolled in January, as the only scholarship quarterbacks participating in practice.
Parrish, a rising redshirt freshman, did not participate.

Head coach Ed Orgeron later revealed Parrish did not participate because he was suspended for a violation of team rules.
While the news around Parrish was quiet in recent months, he was no longer listed on the official roster in early-July and it was apparent he and the school parted ways.
A four-star recruit in the class of 2019, Parrish was ranked as the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback in his country. He redshirted in 2019.
Parrish is the second former Tiger to enter the transfer portal in recent days, following senior tight end Jamal Pettigrew.
