LSU quarterback Max Johnson was put to the ultimate test in his first career start as the Tigers faced the No. 6-ranked Florida Gators, and he delivered in the best way the team could have hoped for in the 37-34 upset win.
People are taking notice of Brad Johnson’s son, and it’s no surprise he earned the title of SEC Offensive Player of the Week after a standout performance in The Swamp.
Johnson completed 21-of-36 passes for 239 yards with three touchdowns, making him the first true freshman quarterback to defeat a Top 10 team in a road matchup.
He’s also the first true freshman signal-caller in program history to be named SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

LSU kicker Cade York, the sophomore from McKinney, Texas, was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after he was good for three field goals, including the 57-yard game-winner, the longest in LSU history by three yards.
This marks the second time York has received the honors since LSU defeated Texas in 2019.
The Tigers face the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT in Tiger Stadium for the season finale.
