The LSU Tigers extended their winning streak to six games on Saturday night, dismantling Arkansas 34-10 in a game many viewed as a potential trap on the road.
While it wasn’t a win over a ranked opponent, the Razorbacks are a solid SEC team, and the victory helped the Tigers in the metrics this week. It didn’t have a major impact on the polls, leading to no change in the AP Top 25 and just a one-spot rise in the US LBM Coaches Poll, but it did give them a boost in the ESPN Football Power Index.
The Tigers now rank No. 12, moving up two spots and pushing toward the top 10. FPI predicts that LSU will win nine games and gives it a 39.7% chance to reach the College Football Playoff.
LSU will hit the road again in Week 9 to face Texas A&M with sole possession of first place in the SEC on the line. FPI gives the Aggies a slight 52.7% edge in that game.
