LSU players who may have very well played their last game for the Tigers on Saturday

Which seniors will LSU football retain in 2021?

The LSU Tigers finished the 2020 season on a high note with wins over a Florida Gators team that was ranked No. 6 at the time and an Ole Miss Rebels team led by one of the SEC’s most prominent quarterbacks, Matt Corral.

Still, 5-5 is an unsatisfying finish for any team — COVID-19 restrictions and all. It’s reasonable to assume the Tigers could have finished with a much better record if nonconference games had been included.

One of the perks, if we can call it that, for LSU is players gaining an extra year of eligibility due to the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

LSU honored 12 seniors on senior day — all of whom could have played their last game for the Tigers. However, it is certain the staff will try to get many of them to stay an extra year.

A brief look into who was recognized on the special day, some of which we may never see take the field for the Bayou Bengals ever again.

DE Neil Farrell Jr.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (13) is hit by LSU defensive end Neil Farrell Jr. (92) as he throws the ball at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. LSU defeated Alabama 46-41.

Farrell originally opted out, but returned to play out the 2020 season.

He totaled 25 tackles (nine solo), with one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defensed in 2020. On his career, he amassed 99 tackles (35 solo), with 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and three passes defensed.
