LSU makes top five for 5-star OT Tristan Leigh

Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma were Leigh’s other finalists.

The LSU Tigers currently have 16 commitments for the class of 2021, good enough to rank No. 5 in the country, per 247Sports.

Fortunately for the Tigers and head coach Ed Orgeron, LSU is among the final group of several of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects. One such prospect announced his top five on Thursday and the Tigers are in that group.

Tristan Leigh is a 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, Va. He is a five-star prospect and ranked as the No. 11 overall player in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma were Leigh’s other finalists.

Leigh spoke to Brian Dohn of 247Sports about his top five.

“These five are the ones where they checked, if not all, most of the boxes for me,” Leigh said. “That basically is mostly about development, and branding is a new thing and I think it is going to be huge in the next couple of years, and the five schools do great with it. And then, with internships and academic support, they are all big on them.”

Leigh has a strong relationship with Orgeron and offensive line coach James Chegg.

With LSU, my relationships with Coach Cregg and Coach O is very strong. When I went there, the game atmosphere was insane and the campus, I really liked it. The whole offensive line pretty much got drafted, and they are only on the way up. Coach Cregg is one of the best in the business. He’s a great technician. They really care about more than the player. I definitely feel that. They care about your family and how they are doing.

Leigh would give LSU its second offensive tackle commitment in the 2021 class, joining four-star prospect Garrett Dellinger.
