LSU in good shape for five-star defensive end

The LSU Tigers are off to a great start for their 2022 recruiting class.

The LSU Tigers are off to a great start for their 2022 recruiting class. While the Tigers lost two commitments this week, they still have a class that is ranked No. 4 overall, according to 247Sports.

Despite not currently having a defensive coordinator or defensive line coach, LSU is standing out to 2022 five-star defensive end Enai White.

A 6-foot-5, 230-pound defender from Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, White named a top-13 list in the fall and included LSU in that group.

White expects to trim his list soon and focus on five schools, and it appears the Tigers are in a pretty good position, per Brian Dohn of 247Sports.

“I really like LSU,” White said.

When White spoke of LSU, he didn’t seem to mind the Tigers don’t currently have a defensive line coach as the majority of his communication is with head coach Ed Orgeron.

“I usually get on the phone with Coach O, and then we talk for a little bit,” White said. “He always says that he needs me. Every time I get on there, he always says something funny, like, ‘We need you,’ with a (deep) voice.”

It helps that Orgeron is a former defensive lineman himself and also coached the position, including at LSU, before becoming head coach in 2016.

Ohio State, Clemson, Penn State, USC and Oregon are the other schools sticking out to White.

He did not announce a timeframe for a college decision.
