The defending national champion LSU Tigers travel to College Station to face the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.
The two SEC West rivals actually have a long history despite the Aggies not joining the SEC until 2012. LSU leads the all-time series 34-21-3.
The Tigers and Aggies first met all the way back in 1899 when A&M blew out LSU 52-0. The Aggies would win the first three meetings of the series before LSU got its first win in 1908.
For years, these two teams met when LSU represented the SEC while Texas A&M represented the old Southwest Conference (SWC). During an annual series from 1986-1995, the two rivals played every year, with the Aggies winning six of the 10 meetings.

When the SWC dissolved in 1996, Texas A&M would play in the Big 12. The two schools only met once when the Aggies played in the Big 12. That meeting occurred in the 2011 Cotton Bowl, with LSU picking up a 41-24 victory.
The Aggies joined the SEC the following year, and the two schools have played every year since.
As SEC opponents, LSU has won seven of the eight meetings. A&M’s only win over LSU in the SEC was that wild seven-overtime thriller in College Station two years ago. The two teams combined for 146 points, making it the highest-scoring FBS game ever.
In LSU’s run to the national championship in 2019, the Tigers dominated the Aggies 50-7. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow put on a show, passing for 352 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
