The 2014 LSU Tigers team opened their season against the Wisconsin Badgers in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium in a game that won’t soon be forgotten.
This matchup put the No. 13 Tigers against the No. 14 Badgers in a must-see season opener.
The Badgers jumped out to a 10-7 lead after the first quarter and lead 17-7 at halftime.
Tigers quarterback Anthony Jennings finished the game 9-of-21 passing for 239 yards and two touchdowns. Kenny Hilliard rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. Travin Dural led the Tigers in receiving with 151 yards on three receptions with one touchdown.

The Tigers would rally from a 24-7 deficit in the third quarter to win the game 28-24. LSU scored six points in the third quarter and 15 points in the fourth to rally for the four-point victory.
LSU had 365 total yards of offense to the Badgers’ 318 yards. The Tigers forced two turnovers defensively and had 17 first downs on offense.
Hilliard sealed the victory on a 28-yard touchdown run with 9:41 left in the fourth quarter as the Tigers went up 28-24.

That score would be the final one of the game. The Badgers were unable to capitalize on their drives leading to the final tick of the clock hitting zero.
Following the opening season win, the Tigers finished the 2014 season with a record of 8-5, and a 4-4 record in SEC play.
LSU lost to Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas in conference play. The Tigers also lost their bowl game against Notre Dame.
For Wisconsin, the 2014 season saw the Badgers finish 11-3 with a 7-2 record in Big Ten conference play.
