LSU football officially signs its top offensive line transfer

LSU football officially inked its top offensive line transfer, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Josh Thompson, the Northwestern transfer, put pen to paper. Per the On3 Industry Rankings, Thompson is the No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the class and a top 50 overall transfer.

Offensive line was a high priority for LSU when the transfer portal opened and Thompson was one of the Tigers’ top targets from the jump. Original reports had Thompson trending to Tennessee, but LSU managed to make a push to sign the blue-chip big man.

Thompson was a four-star coming out of high school, too. LSU is adding talent and experience.

The Tigers’ offensive line was inconsistent in 2024 and is set to lose four starters. Thompson arrives with over 1,400 snaps — something LSU needs.

Thompson isn’t LSU’s only addition on the offensive line. Brian Kelly and staff also signed former Virginia Tech transfer Braelin Moore.
