During Brian Kelly’s first season on the Bayou, he led the LSU Tigers to a 10-4 record, an SEC West Championship, and a 63-7 win over Purdue in the Citrus Bowl. He exceeded every expectation that most fans have for him.
Coming into the SEC from Notre Dame was supposed to be a punch in the mouth for him, but even when he took a shot to the chin, Kelly came back swinging. An example of that is losing 40-13 at home to Tennessee and then beating Florida 45-35 in the swamp the next week.
On3’s JD PicKell is not buying a ticket on the LSU hype train just yet, despite the great first season.
“I’ve been on record here and I say I think LSU is going to win a national title before Brian Kelly is done at LSU,” he said. “But if they don’t win ten games this year, it’s not like they’re in a bad position. I don’t think they’re just at cruising altitude quite yet.”
That is just one of the quotes from his conversation on The Hard Count. If you check out the full conversation, he makes a lot of valid points. LSU is still trending up, but they have not peaked yet.
