LSU football loses assistant coach to Big 12 school

An assistant LSU coach is moving north to take a job with Cincinnati

LSU football is losing an assistant staffer to a Big 12 school.

According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, LSU lead defensive analyst Eddie Hicks is joining Cincinnati as the Bearcats’ cornerbacks coach.

Hicks arrived at LSU before the 2023 season after working under Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State. He’s originally from Mississippi and spent his playing days at Southern Miss.

Despite LSU reshaping its entire on-field defensive staff after the 2023 season, Hicks was retained.

This won’t be Hicks’ first stint at Cincinnati. He worked there as a graduate assistant in 2013.

Hicks is the second LSU assistant to leave this offseason. Earlier this month, LSU special teams coordinator and tight end’s coach Slade Nagle accepted the offensive coordinator job with Houston.

LSU is yet to find Nagle’s replacement, but Tiger fans should wait until after LSU’s bowl meeting with Baylor for the next staff moves to take place.

For now, LSU’s attention remains on the transfer portal.
