LSU football commit named one of the ‘biggest losses’ for Pac-12 school

Losing out on Davis was significant for this program.

LSU football has felt the impact of COVID-19 in preparing for the 2020 season like so many other teams across the country, but one thing that hasn’t stopped rolling is recruiting.

Class of 2021 four-star linebacker Raesjon Davis is LSU’s highest-rated commitment, and he’s also a California native.

Davis committed to LSU on New Year’s Day, choosing LSU over the likes of USC, Auburn, Ohio State, Texas and a host of other prestigious programs.

The first school on that list is where many originally anticipated Davis would land, and Rivals recruiting analyst Mike Farrell considered the fact that he didn’t to be of of the “biggest losses on the recruiting trail in 2021” for USC.

“Mater Dei kids go to USC and most expected Davis to do the same before he picked LSU, so losing another big-time linebacker hurts USC,” Farrell wrote.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 215-pounder from Santa Ana, CA (Mater Dei), is listed in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 player in the state of California and the No. 3 outside linebacker in the country.

Davis is also rated as the No. 36 overall recruit for the 2021 class in the nation.
