LSU defeats Tennessee in College World Series

LSU defeats Tennessee baseball in the College World Series.

No. 5 national seed LSU (49-15, 19-10 SEC) defeated Tennessee (43-21, 16-14 SEC), 6-3, Saturday in the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Vols trailed, 5-0, before scoring three runs in the eighth inning when Hunter Ensley hit a two-run home run and Maui Ahuna had an RBI single.

The Tigers led, 1-0, after Gavin Dugas hit a solo home run in the second inning. LSU extended its advantage to 2-0 with one run in the third inning on an RBI single by Tre’ Morgan.

The Tigers scored two more runs in the sixth inning as Brayden Jobert hit an RBI triple and scored on Jordan Thompson’s single.

Tennessee pulled to within two, 5-3, after Hinter Ensley hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Ensley recorded three hits in the contest for the Vols, who mounted a comeback effort when Blake Burke reached on base after an error with two outs in the ninth inning and advanced to second base on a balk.
