LSU basketball coach Will Wade announced Sunday that his team had landed the commitment of five-star high school center Efton Reid.
Coming in as a 7-0, 240-pound center, Reid already embodies NBA potential and will make an immediate impact for the Tigers in all aspects of the game.
“He is very skilled on the offensive end,” Wade said. “Efton has tremendous touch and footwork around the rim to pair with an expanding perimeter game. Defensively, his size and length will give us the rim protection that we need.”
In his last season at IMG, Reid averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds per game.

The star center will join LSU among the three other signees for the class of 2021 — his IMG teammate Brandon Murray, Alex Fudge, and Jerrell Colbert.
Reid was ranked No.18 overall and the No.4 center by ESPN in its Top 100 prep basketball players for 2021. The 247sports.com rankings had him as the No. 28 player in the country and sitting at third for his position.
Tiger nation may be wondering if Efton has any relation to former LSU star Naz Reid — and that is negative. But he does possess a similar court presence and athleticism.
Reid has a great chance of being the starting center as a freshman, as he was eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft. He briefly considered entering the draft prior to his LSU commitment, but lucky for us, he chose to be a Tiger instead.
Reid is a really good fit for the Tigers and will help lead us back to our campaign for an SEC title, maybe even a National Title. He’ll be surrounded by an impressive group of veteran transfers on the perimeter and a healthy Shareef O’Neal in as power-forward.
Tiger nation welcomes you, Efton. Let’s get to work.
