On Wednesday the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2023 class according to multiple recruiting outlets released his top 12 schools. The other player who can claim the top spot is another LSU target in Arch Manning. Lebbeus Overton claims the top spot for 247Sports and ESPN.
Overton is a difference-maker on the defensive line and is highly coveted by plenty of schools around the SEC. Early predictions have the Georgia native landing in Norman with the Oklahoma Sooners. They were among his top 12 along with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennesee, Texas A&M, and of course the Tigers.
The top prospect hasn’t announced a timetable for when the list would be narrowed down even further. He has 15 months before he can sign with a school in the early signing period next December. Overton can play both inside and on the edge as a strong-side defender. It would be a major get for Ed Orgeron if he can secure his pledge.
