LSU adds another transfer from SEC rival as it boosts defensive line

LSU plucked another transfer from an SEC rival on Monday

LSU football continues to bolster its depth along the defensive line with transfer portal additions.

Former Florida edge rusher Jack Pyburn announced his commitment to the Tigers on Monday, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

In 2024 with the Gators, Pyburn totaled 60 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and one interception. Through three seasons in Gainesville, he posted 80 total tackles.

Pyburn is the second of two defensive end transfers to choose LSU. He follows former Nebraska edge rusher Jimari Butler, who notched 22 total pressures, 22 tackles, and seven tackles for loss. The pair combined have 66 combined appearances at the college level and bring a much-needed veteran presence to the Tigers’ defense.

LSU lost two starting ends to the 2025 NFL Draft in Bradyn Swinson and Sai’Vion Jones, along with Da’Shawn Womack, who transferred to Ole Miss. Head coach Brian Kelly’s statements about a bold approach to the transfer portal are coming to fruition.

Pryburn continues the trend of LSU adding from SEC rivals. On Monday, LSU also signed former Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren. Over the weekend, the Tigers kicked off their transfer window by signing Oklahoma tight end Bauer Sharp.
