LSU already has the No. 1 quarterback (and top overall player) in the 2025 class committed in [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag]. Now, it’s turning its attention to landing its signal-caller for the 2026 cycle.
The Tigers have already missed on a few targets, but one they remain in the mix for is [autotag]Jonas Williams[/autotag], a four-star prospect from Frankfort Heights, Illinois. Williams trimmed his list to four schools on Thursday, and LSU made the cut alongside Ohio State, Alabama and Oregon.
The 6-foot-1.5, 200-pound quarterback ranks as the No. 88 player nationally and the No. 8 passer. He said that LSU’s track record for developing quarterbacks in recent years is why he’s so strongly considering it.
“LSU develops quarterbacks,” Williams said, per On3. It is a top-tier school where I would be around great players every day. If I went to LSU, I would be challenged. I like the staff, how they are hard on players and LSU puts you in that environment that would be great for me to develop in.”

The Buckeyes are currently considered the slim team to beat according to On3, but it seems like a wide-open race for Williams. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, he has also set an upcoming unofficial visit to Baton Rouge.
He received an offer after his previous unofficial visit in April.
