LPGA takes another hit: 2020 CP Women’s Open canceled amid coronavirus travel restrictions

The 2020 LPGA season has another setback with the announcement of the CP Women’s Open being postponed to 2021, due to COVID-19. The CP Women’s Open was scheduled to take place on September 3-6 at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver. “The CP Women’s Open is truly a world-class event and a favorite stop for all of us at the LPGA Tour,” said LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan in a statement. “It is disappointing to miss Canada’s national championship and I know I speak for all LPGA Tour players and staff when I say we look forward to being back in Vancouver next year.” As of June 30th, 13 LPGA events have now been canceled, including the Evian Championship. The LPGA has not played an event since the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in mid-February. The LPGA plans to to restart the season on July 31 at the new LPGA Drive On Championship at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
