It didn’t take long for the first ranked upset of the season to occur in what could be a completely unpredictable college football season. On Saturday afternoon in Ames, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns took down No. 23 Iowa State, outscoring the Cyclones 21-0 in the second half to kick off their season with a signature road win.
Iowa State opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run from Kene Nwangwu, but Louisiana immediately responded with the first kickoff return for a touchdown of the college football season. Louisiana’s Chris Smith found a seam up the middle of the field and raced down the left sideline for a 95-yard touchdown.
