NEW YORK — With the Philadelphia 76ers finishing the string of the 82-game season, they sat their top seven guys when they visited the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Sunday.
The Sixers will face the Nets in the first round of the playoffs so the focus was on the postseason.
Due to the Sixers sitting their main guys, opportunities opened for the team’s young and inexperienced players. For example, Philadelphia played Louis King 28:48, and he scored 20 points while knocking down four 3s on eight attempts the 134-105 win.
“He can shoot,” coach Doc Rivers said of King. “He knows how to play. He does. He has a great feel. We know he can shoot and he executed a couple of plays that he had never seen out of a timeout just tells you he has a little bit of feel. I just like his overall game.”
Despite not knowing the full playbook, King still helped the Sixers pick up a win.
“Just the guys bringing me up to speed before the game and just letting me know that everything is gonna be OK when I get in the game and just play basketball,” King explained. “I just felt like I’ve been comfortable throughout my years and where my spots are on the floor so it’s easy once I get going.”
Now that the season is over, King cannot officially be on the roster, but he, as well as Mac McClung, will be around the team and getting some work in.
“Of course,” King added. “Throughout the whole playoffs, yes we are.”
