In his pre-draft media availability, Duke center Mark Williams said he has worked out in front of the Oklahoma City Thunder but didn’t actually travel to the state.
“I did not go to Oklahoma, but they came to Miami to watch me work out. Miami (is) where I’ve been doing my pre-draft stuff,” said Williams. “They came here to watch me do a workout and sat down, talk with them for a little bit. And then went well. I do what I normally do. And they just watched that.”
Williams said the level of transparency the Thunder showed stood out and that talking with them was a good conversation.
Williams spent two seasons in college and averaged 11.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks on 72.1% shooting in 39 games during his final season.
If the Thunder select Williams, it will likely happen at No. 12. The 2022 NBA draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 23.
