The Los Angeles Lakers (11-8) and Utah Jazz (4-15) meet Sunday at Delta Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Lakers vs. Jazz odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Lakers lead 1-0

The Lakers are in a slump, losing 4 of their last 5 games, including a 101-93 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. They were held to their lowest point total of the season and failed to cover as 2.5-point home underdogs as the Under 230 hit. Rookie Dalton Knecht led the Lakers with 20 points, hitting 6-of-13 from behind the arc. The Lakers also committed 17 turnovers.

The Jazz have struggled all season, losing 7 of their last 8 games, including a 106-94 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. They failed to cover as 6-point home underdogs with the Under 229 hitting. Despite a balanced scoring effort with 4 starters in double figures, they couldn’t contain G Kyrie Irving, who led the Mavericks with 30 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Lakers at Jazz picks and predictions

Prediction

Lakers 120, Jazz 108

Moneyline

The Lakers (-300) get themselves back on track with an impressive road win at Utah on Sunday but I’ll AVOID betting 3.5 units to win 1 in return. I’ll take my wager to the spread and/or total.

Against the spread

BET LAKERS -7.5 (-110).

The Lakers are in a prime position to snap out of their mini slump and should have no problem beating the Jazz, whom they beat 124-118 on Nov. 19. The Lakers have 6 players averaging double figures led by F Anthony Davis, averaging 28.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, and F LeBron James, who is averaging 22.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 9.1 assistss per game.

Utah has struggled all season and could be without key players like G Jordan Clarkson and rookie C Kyle Filipowski. This will also be the second game of a back-to-back for the Jazz. They’ve only covered once in their last 5 games. With their roster issues and lack of depth, it’s hard to see Utah keeping this game competitive. The Lakers have the firepower to comfortably cover the spread in this matchup.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 228.5 (-105).

The Lakers have been struggling to score of late and have gone Under in their last 4 games, with just 93 points in their most recent outing. While they’re unlikely to repeat that performance, their offense has been inconsistent.

The Jazz have also hit the Under in 3 of their last 4 games and have combined for fewer than 200 points in their last 2 games. With Utah playing a back-to-back, fatigue could impact their performance. Both teams have a combined average of only 123 points per game (Lakers 114, Jazz 109), and their slower pace of play suggests this game will stay Under.
