Los Angeles Dodgers at Los Angeles Angels odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Los Angeles Dodgers at Los Angeles Angels sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (13-7) and Los Angeles Angels (7-12) start a three-game series Friday at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, with first pitch scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET. We analyze the Dodgers-Angels betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

This marks the first installment of the Freeway Series for 2020.

Dodgers at Angels: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Clayton Kershaw at LHP Patrick Sandoval

Kershaw’s 3.60 ERA in two starts is mostly fueled by a 2.70 HR/9, which equates to three homers allowed in 10 innings.

  • Still, that hides his great 12:1 K:BB, which is a promising sign that he’s returning to form after missing his first start with back soreness.
  • In five starts at Angel Stadium, Kershaw has rolled with a 3.21 ERA and a brilliant 41:12 K:BB across 33 2/3 frames.

The groundball wizard Sandoval (60% so far this year) has also shown early signs of improved control (just 1.80 BB/9 in 10 innings). Unfortunately, he’s also allowed two homers already.

  • Working in the lefty’s favor: He holds a 3.38 ERA in 24 career frames at Angel Stadium, and the Dodgers rank just 27th with a .193 wOBA against lefties so far in 2020.

Prediction

Dodgers 6, Angels 3

Despite the intrigue surrounding Sandoval, the Dodgers are 7-2 on the road; they’re nearly ballpark-proof, considering how strong their lineup is. (Hi, Mookie Betts!) The Angels, meanwhile, are 4-5 in Anaheim.

Moneyline (ML)

  • Dodgers (-182)
  • Angels (+160)

The Angels don’t interest me enough to take that (+165) and I can’t bet the Dodgers with any excitement, given the modest potential returns. PASS.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

  • Dodgers -1.5 (-121)
  • Angels +1.5 (+100)

The Dodgers are sturdy favorites, and bettors can’t even score positive odds on a -1.5 spread. Wagerers can maximize the Dodgers’ upside by BETTING the line up to -2.5 (+125).

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Dodgers -2.5 (+125) would return a profit of $12.50 if the Dodgers win by three or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

  • Over 9.5 (-110)
  • Under 9.5 (-110)

The Dodgers’ elite pitching is probably a major reason they’re 6-11-3 on the Over/Under so far, but even though my predicted run total is nine, I’m going to PASS due to the equal juice.
