The Clippers have had to play without their two superstar forwards for weeks. L.A. has failed to cover the spread in three straight games but managed to cover six of its last 10 outings.
Los Angeles traded for G Norman Powell and F Robert Covington from the Portland Trail Blazers Friday. Powell put up 28 points in 24 minutes off the bench Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks in his first appearance with his new club. They’ll be up for a challenge taking on Memphis, arguably the hottest team in the league.
The Grizzlies have covered seven of their last 10 games. They are one of just three teams, along with the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns, to rank top eight in both offensive and defensive rating. Memphis is the best-covering team in the league at 36-19 against the spread (ATS).
However, the Grizzlies are ninth with a 12-9 ATS record as home favorites.

PASS on the money line.
No regular-season NBA favorite is worth a -400 price tag. However, betting a road upset of one of the hottest teams isn’t a smart play either. Look to the points for value.
Against the spread
BET on the GRIZZLIES -7.5 (-122).
The Clippers’ weakness is in their rebounding. They rank 27th in the league in defensive rebounding rate and that’s going to be a problem as Memphis tops the league in offensive rebounding.
The Grizzlies also rank ninth in turnover rate whereas the Clippers sit 18th. The extra opportunities are going to go to Memphis, and at home, it should have a blowout victory.
The Grizzlies also rank first in fast-break points per game. The Clippers sit 23rd in opponents’ fast break points per game. This just isn’t a good matchup for the Clippers.
Over/Under
Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 226.5 (-112).
The Grizzlies play at the seventh-fastest pace which is why they average the fifth-most points per game.
Memphis has been on fire lately, scoring at least 119 in three straight games and at least 115 in six straight. Memphis is 6-3-1 O/U in its last 10.
The Clippers are 7-2-1 O/U in their last 10 and have topped 110 in seven straight. They should be able to put enough points on the board to help top the Over with additional firepower from Powell.
