This Saturday in Tuscaloosa, two of college football’s giants meet once again on the gridiron, as the Alabama Crimson Tide host the Georgia Bulldogs for a top five showdown.
The pair of SEC opponents are certainly not unfamiliar with each other at all, as this will be the 74th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series where Alabama holds a 43-26-4 advantage dating back to 1895. In the series, Alabama also owns a 23-13-4 all-time advantage in Tuscaloosa.
Looking back at recent history as well, Alabama has dominated this head-to-head matchup over the decade-plus by winning eight of the last nine since the Bulldogs 2007 victory in Tuscaloosa. Over that span, six games have come in either the SEC or national championship game, with the lone matchup to take place in Tuscaloosa having been a 41-24 Alabama win back in 2020.
Georgia’s lone win during that span was during the 2021 national title game in which they defeated the Crimson Tide by a final score of 33-18.
The most recent meeting between the two came just a season ago as well in Atlanta, where Alabama and Georgia met in the SEC Championship Game. Alabama ended up winning that contest by a final score of 27-24 to upset the top-ranked Bulldogs, as well as cost Georgia a trip to the College Football Playoff in the process.
With the Crimson Tide having dominated the series against Georgia during the Nick Saban era, will Alabama open the Kalen DeBoer era with a win Saturday night?
