Week Six: at Kentucky Wildcats
Our final candidate is the Kentucky Wildcats, who are coming off a 5-6 campaign. They finished out the year with a victory over North Carolina State in the Gator Bowl. A much improved Wildcat team under head coach Mark Stoops.
The team only scored 21.8 points per game but gave up 25.9 points per game. Defensively they are a much-improved unit. The offense leaves something to be desired. Last season they held the Mississippi State that went wild on LSU to just two points in their game. LSU offense must be ready to deal with them.
The primary reason we are viewing Kentucky as a trap game is where they are on the schedule. The week before the game LSU will host Auburn on Oct. 2, a team that handed the Bayou Bengals their worse loss in the series. The following week after Kentucky, the Tigers host Florida. It would be easy to overlook the Kentucky game with what is looming. LSU has the Gators and Ole Miss on back-to-back Saturdays prior to the bye week.
