LOOK: WR John Metchie participates in Texans voluntary workouts

Houston Texans wideout John Metchie participated in the team’s voluntary workouts, indicating a huge step in his recovery.

Houston Texans receiver John Metchie caught passes as he was on the field for the club’s offseason workouts Wednesday.

Metchie appearing on the field is a fulfillment of new coach DeMeco Ryans’ words when he met with the media on April 11.

“John is doing fine,” Ryans said. “We’ll see John get involved with our offseason program. And with John, as with every other player, we’re going to take it one day at a time and see where he can grow and where he can be when the time comes. At the right time, when the season comes, we’ll see where he is.”

Metchie did not play his rookie season as he battled leukemia.
