Look: The goalposts have been raised at SoFi Stadium

The field is beginning to take shape.

There were originally supposed to be three different concerts held at SoFi Stadium before the Rams ever got a chance to run out of the tunnel, but the coronavirus pandemic has thrown a wrench into those plans. Now, the Rams will be the ones to open the $5 billion on Aug. 14 against the Saints in a preseason matchup.

With no events on the schedule standing between now and that exhibition game, construction workers can plan ahead and begin laying out the field for the 2020 NFL season. No turf has been put in place yet, but the goalposts have been raised at each end of the field.

Here’s a close look at the goalpost from field level, shared by the stadium’s Instagram account.

This video shows the current status of the field, which has a ton of construction equipment on it still. It also gives a glimpse at a view from the end zone, showing the Oculus hanging above the field.

John Kay, who’s shared a number of videos of the stadium throughout the construction process, posted this video of the exterior, which also features a quick shot of the goalpost.

If everything goes according to plan, the Rams will be on the field at SoFi Stadium on Aug. 14. The NFL and NFLPA are said to be discussing a shortened preseason, however, which would trim the first two games from the exhibition schedule.

If that were to happen, the Rams would then open SoFi Stadium on Aug. 29 against the Broncos, which is the third week of the presason.
