Week 9 was not one of the better games of the season for Derek Carr. While he did have a number of nice throws and plays, his two interceptions and lost fumble at the end of the game proved to be the difference in the contest.
Outside of the turnovers, Carr struggled to throw the ball down the field. And as we’ve mentioned several times over the past few weeks, Carr has been the league’s best deep-ball passer in the NFL this season.
Carr attempted three passes behind 20 air yards on Sunday, two of which were incomplete and one that was intercepted. Take a look at Carr’s passing chart from Week 9 via the NFL’s Next Gen Stats:

The hope is that with DeSean Jackson signing with the team this week, he can help Carr regain his deep ball accuracy. The Raiders desperately need someone who can stretch the field and Jackson has always been a star at doing so.
Up next is the Kansas City Chiefs, who have played back-to-back good games on defense against the Giants and the Packers. But can Carr get back on track against a team that he has historically fared well against? We will certainly see so on Sunday Night Football on NBC in Week 10.
