Hubert Davis got a look at his 2024-25 roster for the first time at the annual North Carolina basketball summer camp in June. While UNC doesn’t hit the court for a few more months, one incoming freshman is catching the attention during a recent run at another camp.
Five-star freshman Drake Powell was one of the college players named to the Jayson Tatum Elite Camp. During a college and pro run session, Powell put together some highlight plays including scoring on future Hall of Famer Chris Paul who was in attendance.
Check out some highlights of Powell at the camp during one of the runs:

While Jackson is North Carolina’s highest-ranked recruit in the 2024 class, Powell is a recruit who has been on the rise since he committed to the program in September of 2022. Powell has elevated his game since then, becoming one of the top players in the 2024 class and helping give UNC a top 15 class.
The wing should earn some valuable minutes early especially if he can continue to contribute on the defensive end of the court, something UNC will need on the perimeter.
