A leaked photo on Twitter suggests that the Houston Rockets have light blue uniforms in the works for a future NBA season (possibly 2020-21).
The Rockets will have at least some changes from their 2019-20 jerseys, since Nike’s version of the Classic uniforms were only for one season, as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the 1994-95 championship team.
Houston introduced new, space-themed City jerseys for the 2019-20 season, and it isn’t yet confirmed whether those will be brought back.
Per Camisas da NBA, it isn’t known whether the new blue set represents a change to the City jerseys, or if it’s some other alternative uniform. The theme also isn’t clear, since the photo only shows the blue shorts.

For a team with red as the primary color throughout most of its history, the choice of light blue certainly draws attention. The Rockets briefly had navy blue uniforms in the late 1990s, but this is a very different shade of blue. As a result, it’s unclear whether these jerseys are meant to be a throwback to that generation. There also aren’t any pinstripes, which were among the defining characteristics of those older blue sets.
The 2019-20 City jerseys weren’t fully revealed until a few weeks after that regular season began, so we may have to wait a good bit longer before having confirmation on the new threads.

Some might say Oilers inspired but the Rockets 96-2003 also used these colors. https://t.co/TMOGoOnB5P pic.twitter.com/nUeIhLcuff
