Bijan Robinson couldn’t bring Texas all the way “back,” but he certainly cemented his legacy at UT.
When a player comes out of high school with so much hype and fanfare it can be hard to live up to the lofty expectations. That wasn’t the case for Bijan Robinson. Ever since he landed in Austin, Bijan has delivered and then some.
Stepping in and immediately playing as a freshman, his breakout moment came during the 2020 Alamo Bowl in which he won the MVP award after accumulating 183 yards and one touchdown in the 55-23 beat down of Colorado.
His freshman season was just a small taste of what was to come next in his final two seasons at Texas. He entered his sophomore campaign as a first-team All-Big 12 player and finished as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, Doak Walker Award, and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. He also became the first Longhorn to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season since 2016, ending the year with a team-leading 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Then came the 2022 season. Most fans knew it would be his final year at Texas, and boy did he put on a show. Bijan led the Longhorns offense with 1,894 all-purpose yards and 20 total touchdowns. Robinson finished the year as a unanimous first-team All-American and won the Doak Walker Award.
Bijan ends his career at Texas as the fourth all-time in Longhorn history with 3,410 rushing yards and 41 total touchdowns (33 rush, 8 receiving). He has certainly cemented his name alongside other Texas legends like Ricky Williams and Earl Campbell. Robinson has been a bright spot the past three seasons for a Texas team that has underperformed. Longhorn fans will always cherish his time spent in Austin.
With all of his accomplishments in mind, it’s time to look back at his final season in burnt orange before he heads off to the NFL in April:
