Lonzo Ball put together his best performance of the relatively young season on Thursday against Phoenix. Despite it coming in a loss, Ball finished with 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting with 11 assists, six rebounds and three steals while hitting four of his five three-pointers.
It was his first game of the year Ball reached the 20-point mark and only the sixth time in his career he scored 20 points. It was also just the 14th time he hit four three-pointers in a single game
As impressive as the performance may have been on the night, after the game, Ball could only lament on the fact it came in a loss.
Lonzo Ball, asked whether he thought this was his best game with #Pelicans: "I wish we would've won. I don't really judge my stats. I go on wins and losses. But I felt pretty good tonight. I let my team down last game, so I wanted to come through tonight."

Interestingly, as Ball noted, his season-best performance came one night removed from arguably his worst game of the year. Against Dallas, Ball shot 2-of-12 from the field and 2-of-10 from beyond the arc with just six points on the evening.
However, Ball’s breakout game could have been foreseen given his success in the past against Phoenix. Counting Thursday’s game, Ball is now averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 assists and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 38.7 percent beyond the arc in seven games.
Unfortunately for Ball, Phoenix is on the schedule just once more in the final weeks of the regular season on April 9.
