Few players have had larger improvements this season than Brandon Ingram. After inconsistent seasons with Los Angeles, Ingram has flourished in his new environment and earned an All-Star spot in New Orleans.
Few players have been more connected to Ingram than Lonzo Ball. Ball has spent his entire career playing with Ingram and has had an up-close view of his improved production.
In a piece by Christian Clark on NOLA.com about Ingram’s All-Star selection, Ball talked about Ingram’s development.
“You can just tell he wants to be the best. You can tell he honestly thinks he can be one of the best players in the league, and he goes out there and shows that every night. It all starts in the gym. He believes in putting in the work. Between film, shooting, 1-on-1 work, B.I.’s always around basketball.”
Ball has long been one of his ardent supporters publicly. Ingram and Ball have spent plenty of time together in games and in practice. The two often spend time together in shooting drills during and after practice. As a result, few players have seen his work ethic more than Ball.
“To see someone working like that plus his God-given talent and the size he has on the court. You put all that together, there’s no way for him not to be great.”
Given the uptick in both their plays this season, Ball and Ingram figure to be linked for much of their careers. Seeing the support between one another is another positive sign for their development and for the Pelicans going forward.
