Lonzo Ball and Big Baller Brand have had a contentious relationship over the last year-plus dating back to the news emerging of Alan Foster’s situation. With a wedge driven between Lonzo and father LaVar, who brought Foster into the family.
Since early last year, Lonzo has been non-committal on his future with the brand that he is the majority owner of. But after agreeing to give his father a year to turn the business around, Ball may be ready to move forward with the brand yet again.
In the verse to his song “Tick Tock” released on Friday, Ball had a handful of lines in his verse that seemed to indicate he was committed to the brand moving forward.
Big Baller Brand, I’m the man
Know we sticking to the plan
Popping bottles, spending bands
ZO2 cost a grand, brought it down for my fans
It could be simply a line in passing, but it’s not a line Ball has delivered before even in that case. Big Baller Brand could be set for a revival with the family having recently signed Roc Nation Sports. Jay-Z, the founder of Roc Nation, also holds a leadership role with PUMA Basketball.
In an interview in the weeks after the family joining Roc Nation, LaVar hinted that the family would be open to a collaboration between Big Baller Brand and PUMA. Whether that latter brand is open to that remains in question.
Regardless, having Lonzo onboard with the company moving forward is a huge win for Big Baller Brand. It could be an even bigger win if LaMelo also commits to the brand as well.
