Over the weekend, Longhorns baseball was busy adding to its 2026 class. On Saturday, RHP Cooper Harris announced that he had committed to Texas. In Harris, the Longhorns are adding a pitcher who has already shown the ability to miss bats.
While fans will have to wait over a year for Harris to make his collegiate debut, he has an intriguing arsenal. His fastball tops out in the low 90s, and he can catch batters off balance with a curveball that can reach 77 miles per hour. As he gets older, those velocities should increase.

When Harris steps foot on campus, the focus will be on improving his pitch mix. The 16-year-old is one of the top prep arms in Texas and was on the Futures Game team. If the Longhorns can maximize his potential, then Harris could be valuable regardless of whether he pitches out of the rotation or bullpen.
Harris did not hide his excitement for joining the Longhorns on social media. In a post on his x account, he said, ” I am excited to announce that I am continuing my baseball and academic career @TexasBaseball. Nothing would be possible without the big man above all. I would like to thank my family, coaches, twin and teammates for supporting throughout my career. Hook ’em!”
Although the Longhorns 2026 class is far from set, adding Harris has created excitement about the future.
