There has been many differences in the ways Tom Herman and Steve Sarkisian recruited the wide receiver position.
The disparity is evident in Sarkisian’s first class of recruits and transfers, as he values blazing track speed that translates to the field regardless of how big the pass catcher is. One of the two receivers that the Longhorns are bringing in as member of their 2022 recruiting class, Brenen Thompson, is the fastest player in Texas.
Thompson showed off his speed that will be on campus in fall, as he won the 3A 100m gold and 200m gold.
WOW!
Future @TexasFootball WR / @TexasTFXC sprinter, @BrenenThompson_ (Spearman HS) wins the 3A #UILState 100M at a blazing 10.24! #HookEm @fox7austin đź“ą: @ClifOnFOX7 pic.twitter.com/DztEV0CLW5— Dennis de la Pena (@dennisonfox7) May 12, 2022
Thompson’s speed could easily help him see the field in 2022, even with all of the talent in front of him.
His 200m championship marks his second of his high school career as he won last year as well, and the 100m championship avenges his second place finish that he had in last year’s race as well.
