Whether you love him or love to boo him — and it’s clear that most fans feel some kind of way about him — there’s no denying that Logan Paul has been a success story for WWE very quickly. While WWE undoubtedly first got into business with Paul due to his gigantic social media following, it didn’t take long to realize that despite his inexperience, he could really go in the ring.
Yes, it’s helped that Paul has been in the ring with some of the best in the business, the type of talent who naturally make the people they work with look as good as possible. And Paul’s viral WWE moments have usually been high spots, the kinds of things that don’t take years of mastering your craft to pull off.
Still, Paul deserves credit for his performances to date, and clearly has the blend of athleticism, timing and showmanship that can’t easily be taught. He proved that in matches against some of WWE’s biggest stars, like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, against whom he did not look out of place.
So surely, the “Impaulsive” host who carries himself with a swagger bordering on arrogance at times must have known he’d be good at pro wrestling right away, right?
Actually … no.
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated spoke with Paul ahead of his boxing match with Dillon Danis and found he expressed surprise at being able to adapt to WWE-style wrestling this quickly.
“The answer is no,” said Paul. “Absolutely not.”
Paul also assured fans he’s coming back to WWE as soon as he puts Danis in his rearview mirror, notably saying he’d like to win “some WWE championships” like those held by Reigns and Rollins.
“I’ve got a whole hit list of people I want to wrestle, and they’re both on it,” said Paul. “After I do this boxing match and knock out Dillon Danis, I’m going to get right back into it.”
