There’s a running joke with NHL fans that hockey doesn’t get enough respect from the rest of sports media and this hilarious little flub is sure to add more fuel to the fire.
Late last week, Lina Washington, an Emmy-nominated sports reporter at Sacramento’s ABC 10 news station, was doing a routine rundown on the San Jose Sharks run of games against the Vegas Golden Knights. During her report, the station cut from her stand up to show some highlight game footage. What viewers saw instead was footage of….actual sharks.
when the editors at your news station accidentally send video of *actual sharks* to your sports story about the @SanJoseSharks 🤦🏾♀️🥲 sharing this lil blooper from last week just because we could all use a laugh today pic.twitter.com/v1iuAGmLY3

Washington, of course, handled the mix up like a pro.
“This is not the sharks we are talking about but the Sharks did lose tonight,” she said.
Washington also explained how the mixup went down. Basically, they had two stories about sharks, and welp, mistakes were made.
for my newsies, here’s how this happened: we had a story slugged “LOTS OF SHARKS!!!” earlier in the newscast and the editor was asked to link THIS video to THAT story… But instead they sent it to my “SHARKS GOLDEN KNIGHTS” VO, overwriting the #SJSharks highlights I cut 🙃🦈

Anyway, thanks for the much needed chuckle, editor at ABC 10!
