Lions target Chase Young among the prospects choosing to skip the combine workouts

Young will interview and get medical testing but is saving his workout for Ohio State’s pro day

One of the prime targets for the Detroit Lions and the No. 3 overall pick, Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, has decided not to participate in the workouts here in Indianapolis at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine.

Young made his decision on Monday, the day the first wave of players started their medical testing and interviewing process with teams. He indicated he will perform the on-field workout drills at Ohio State’s pro day next month.

He is not alone in opting to leave the workouts out of his combine experience. Young’s Michigan counterpart, Josh Uche, also announced he will not work out. Uche is projected as a second- or third-round pick. Minnesota WR Tyler Johnson, a possible late-round target for Detroit, also opted against working out. Several other players here in Indianapolis are weighing their option to delay working out until their respective college pro days.
