There is a new quarterback in Detroit. With the No. 68 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the Lions selected Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker.

The pick used to acquire Hooker was made via two trades down from the No. 55 pick.

Hooker was sometimes projected to the Lions at No. 18 overall. But a torn ACL and his advanced age (he’s 25) conspired to drop his stock to the third round. Hooker is rehabbing the knee injury he suffered in December and is expected to miss at least part of his rookie season.

He was an outstanding performer in his final two seasons at Tennessee, throwing for 58 combined TDs and just five INTs.
