Lions re-sign safety C.J. Moore to a one-year deal

Moore signs to stay in Detroit for 2022 instead of becoming a restricted free agent

C.J. Moore will be back in Detroit for another season. The safety avoided hitting free agency and agreed to sign a new one-year deal to stick with the Lions for 2022.

Moore was slated to be a restricted free agent. Much like the Lions did with offensive lineman Evan Brown, the team locked up Moore to a new deal before the free agency negotiation period begins later on Monday.

It’s a one-year deal for Moore, who played in all 17 games for Detroit in 2021. In his three years with the Lions, Moore has primarily played on special teams but did have a career-high 164 defensive snaps last year. His new contract will pay Moore, 26, a $1.2 million base salary and a $550,000 signing bonus. His cap hit will be $1.75 million. Moore will be an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
