The NFL has released the salary cap carryover figures for all 32 teams from the 2020 season into 2021. It’s good news for the Detroit Lions.
Detroit is going to carry over $15,227,427 in funds, per ESPN’s Field Yates, who posted the figures for all teams. Compared to prior estimations, it’s a boon of almost $3 million for the cap-strapped Lions. Previously the Lions were expected to get $12.8 million in unused cap funds from 2020 to carry into 2021.
While the cap is not yet officially set — expect that figure very soon — the carryover allows the Lions to go over the cap ceiling by the value of the carryover. If the cap is set at $182 million, the Lions extra funds would raise their cap to $197.2 million.
