Jared Goff has enjoyed varying levels of the benefit of the doubt through the first five weeks. In the first half of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Goff lost anyone who had lent him the contextual excuses.
Goff had a rotten first half versus the Bengals. He completed 9-of-15 passes for just 38 yards and one interception, though the turnover was not directly his fault. The Lions managed just four first downs, none in the first quarter.
Fans took out their anger and frustration at Goff’s timid and ineffective play on social media. And they did not hold back…
To recap: Jared Goff doesn't see open targets, misses ones that he does, takes sacks and fumbles the football. Oh and yes he did throw the ball out of bounds on a 4th down.
The perfect tank commander

I just can't help but come to the conclusion that the biggest difference on offense and defense for the Lions is that Goff has been such an anchor. Both sides have talent deficiencies and injury issues. D rising above, O has sunk. https://t.co/Ms6SYhPP02

On 4th down, when all else fails, you gotta throw it away if you're Jared Goff because… logic.pic.twitter.com/tpUViG5c51

Only the walls in this house will hear my thoughts on Jared Goff because it is not safe for Twitter.

Goff throws a ball away on 4th down and I'm doing this earlier than I thought pic.twitter.com/GGpGyV0k4V

Goff missed two potential TDs or least big plays on the 3rd and 4th down. Man

The Lions have problems beyond QB, we get it.
And maybe Goff could be functional with better WRs.
But the misreads and overthrows are so, so bad. Like remarkably horrible.

Swift was WIDE OPEN and probably scores a touchdown on that 4th down. Goff didn’t see him.
I can’t.

Man I hate to pin it on one guy but Goff is woof the last couple weeks. He’s missing reads that could keep the chains moving. Guys are playing hard and he’s holding back that effort

Aight y'all I'm over it.
Goff ain't getting it done.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Jared Goff has now gone FOUR consecutive games without a TD pass in the first half.
At what point do the #Lions consider a QB change? He’s not the best option to win at this point. It’s proven. Another stagnant start for the Lions.

When you just wanna coach football but Jared Goff is your quarterback. #Lions #Rams pic.twitter.com/ubcmnVN6Le

Goff may have just played the worst half of football at QB in the history of the Detroit Lions.
