The Tampa Bay Buccaneers walked away from the 2020 NFL draft with another wide receiver in Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson, who they selected in the fifth round. Johnson will be joining a receiving corps that already includes Pro Bowlers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
But, with the departure of Breshad Perriman, Johnson has a chance to compete for that third receiver position and be a go-to guy for quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady, the six-time Super Bowl champ, is excited to bring his Tompa Bay alter ego to Florida, but he may have competition now for coolest Tampa nickname. Turns out, the rookie Johnson isn’t the only Tyler Johnson playing professionally in Tampa. There’s also Tyler Johnson of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, who was more than thrilled by the Bucs’ pick of the Minnesota receiver.
Take a look.
Hey @TomBrady, looks like it’s Tyler Bay now 😂 Welcome @T_muhneyy10!@TBLightning @Buccaneers
