Let’s not judge Jalen Milroe just yet

Maybe we need to take a step back when discussing Milroe’s first-ever start as the Crimson Tide QB

A lot of Alabama fans were unhappy with the Crimson Tide’s performance against the Texas A&M Aggies at home in the Week 6 contest, specifically Jalen Milroe. However, I am here to tell you to pump the brakes and highlight the fact that Milroe flashed moments of excellence this past Saturday.

First of all, it can’t be ignored that Milroe had three passing touchdowns in his first career start, against an SEC opponent nonetheless. No matter who you are, that is difficult to do, even if he was 12/19 for 111 yards.

The numbers might not reflect it, but Milroe impressed fans with his arm strength and the zip he has on the ball. Even the interception he threw deep down the field looked like a frozen rope coming out of his hand.

Milroe also dazzled fans with his ability on the ground carrying the ball 17 times for 83 yards. As we saw in the Arkansas game, Milroe possesses game-changing speed that will give any defensive coordinator nightmares. As the offense begins to tailor more to Milroe after Bryce Young leaves for the NFL, we will see a special player.

Going forward, Alabama and Milroe need to clean up some of the mistakes and turnovers, but we can’t expect a perfect game from a kid making his first career start. Once Milroe starts to get more time on the field, I think we will see the next great Alabama quarterback.
