There isn’t an NFL duo that remotely compares to the success Tom Brady and Bill Belichick had with the New England Patriots.
With Belichick as head coach and Brady as quarterback, New England won six Super Bowls and 17 AFC East Titles. Every team wanted to desperately beat the Brady-Belichick duo, but few ever did.
Belichick is now the head football coach at UNC, a decision the Tar Heel faithful hope finally turns UNC into a consistent winner.
Despite Belichick jumping into college coaching for the first time, he got a massive vote of confidence from Brady during a recent NFL on Fox segment.
“They’re getting a tremendous coach,” Brady said about the Tar Heels getting Belichick. “Being in that (Patriots) locker room for as many years as I did, those guys (at North Carolina) are going to play very hard. He’s going to coach them well. It’s a great benefit for all those players that are going to that program, because they’re getting the best coach that this NFL has ever seen.”

Brady isn’t half-bad of a player himself, winning seven total Super Bowls (one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and five NFL MVP awards. Some still say Brady could play today, which I fully believe, but he’s enjoying his post-playing days as a broadcaster.
Some say that Brady made Belichick, with the latter only making one postseason appearance (2021) post-Brady. I disagree, as the Patriots’ talent branched out elsewhere.
Belichick’s hiring has UNC the talk of college football. Can the Tar Heels turn that talk into making themselves a winning program?
