It wasn’t the intention of LeBron James, he says, to sit in a chair that looked like a throne. But of course, the symbolism couldn’t be lost on the media members interviewing him before he eventually leaned into the King jokes himself.
James was hoping to sit in a lower sitting chair, presumably, so he could more easily ice his ankles, but nevermind that, it’s time for jokes.
LeBron said he needed a lower chair before his interview. Told by @LakersReporter that it looked a bit like a throne, LeBron chuckled and said, "Absolutely not. It's one of these hallway chairs everybody sits in." pic.twitter.com/oZRVO1HBiB

James later made a similar throne-related joke to Lakers coach Frank Vogel, as documented below by Kyle Goon of the Southern California News Group. So even while Vogel told reporters that there is some level of concern they could be without Anthony Davis in their Restart opener, LeBron didn’t seem bothered by that at all.
LeBron is leaning into the chair joke: “Hey coach (Vogel), you can sit on the throne for the day.”

The reality of actual NBA games that count coming around the corner might have something to do with how hyped LeBron is. In his 17th season, he’s had a spectacular one and his Lakers are poised to make a deep playoff run for the first time since the days of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.
