As far as the bettors and the general consensus prior to the NBA hiatus were concerned, Jayson Tatum’s latest public opinion on who should be the league MVP cuts against what most have been saying. While Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo was widely considered the heavy favorite to win the NBA MVP before the hiatus, Tatum picked Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James as his 2020 NBA MVP.
Tatum was asked what his awards picks would be if the season was officially over during an appearance on “Take It There,” with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks. Due to LeBron’s scoring and assisting, as well as the team success the Lakers had as the best team in the West, Tatum believes LeBron deserves the MVP.

Tatum, of course, has gone toe-to-toe with LeBron in the Eastern Conference Finals and also had a huge game against James and the Lakers at the end of February. Tatum was so good that LeBron called him an absolute “problem,” which may have inadvertently created a new nickname Boston’s young star.
